The Birth of Impressionism

Impressionism is a style of wile that developed in France in the 1870s. This style of cunning began when qu finesseet students of the painter Marc Gleyre started produceting together, and teasing the handed-down rules of art. These four students were Manet, Renoir, Sisley, and Bazille. Since 1648 the rules of art had been set by the French academy of Fine Arts. The honorary society did not consider head pictures of day-after-day events to be art. They emphasized paintings that taught ethical or righteous lessons through and through historic, mythological, or Biblical themes. When the four art students started meeting in cafés to share their ideas of what classifies art as art and why, their group grew to allow in men corresp onding Cezanne, Pissarro, Morisot, Degas, and Monet. These men did not think art had to have to adopt rules to be considered art.
